How many fish can we keep?

Each person is allowed to keep 5 fish.

What about food, drinks, alcohol?

We do not supply food and drinks so you will have to bring these items. Bring them in a big cooler and you can use it to carry home your fish. Alcohol is permitted but getting drunk is not. We want you to have a good time but we ask that you do so in a safe way. Remember, you are on a lake and the boat moves with the waves so keeping your balance is important.

Are fishing licenses required?

Yes. If you have an annual fishing license, you need to get the Lake Michigan Stamp to use that license on Lake Mich. We keep IL. 24 hour and Wisc. 2 day licenses on board the boat so you can buy them from us at the same price as from the DNR or your local bait shop. These licenses do not require a stamp and expire after 24 hours and 48 hours.

How many people can the boat accommodate?

By law, the Coast guard limits us to a maximum of 6 passengers per boat. If your group is larger than 6 we just hire other boats. We do this frequently for large groups. You have to let us know as early as possible so we can book other boats while they are still available.

What about young kids?

First, children are considered passengers by the coast guard so they are counted as part of your group. Second, due to the size of the fish and the equipment we use, it can be difficult for small kids to hold a rod and reel in a fish. As long as there are adults to help them it is usually ok.

Do you clean fish?

We offer fish cleaning and bagging @ $1.00 per fish.

What if bad weather is forecast for the day of my trip?

You will not have to fish in bad weather. If the weather forecast looks bad I will call you a day or two in advance to talk about it and decide what you want to do. Every situation is different but some typical choices are: You can decide to stay home and reschedule to a different day. You can drive to the harbor and see how bad it is and then decide. Sometimes the weather forecasts turn out to be totally wrong. In any event, the final decision is made by the Captain. Your safety is his responsibility.
